Dear Scrapbooking Gals,

I finally did it!  I decided to chop off my long hair this week.  This is the second time that I have done it and donated it to Locks of Love (http://www.locksoflove.org/).

Before         and          After

The reason I am sharing this with you, is that it has inspired me to do something good for the world.  And why not do something good for the world and have fun scrapbooking too?  So I tried to find a way.  Since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I focused on helping this cause. I hope you will use one of my ideas below to help others.

I saw an ad on Creating Keepsakes for Lisa Bearnson’s Kit for a Cause .  You can buy this album kit for $15 and they donate $3 to support breast cancer initiatives.  I bought 2 of them myself and plan to make one for my mom and one for my future posterity (they don’t ship out for a few more weeks).  Breast cancer affects the lives of millions—not only those who have been diagnosed but also their families, friends and loved ones. Make this special “All About Me” album as a tribute for a loved one, a survivor, or yourself.

You can also buy certain scrapbooking supplies from other companies and they will donate to breast cancer causes.  Check out these “pink” Breast Cancer Awareness supplies. These “pink” supplies include glue, paper, and more!

Also, check out http://www.komen.org/ - Race for the Cure.  Find a race in your area and join in to support the cause.  I also found out that many of the state/city affiliates you can find on the site (mine is http://www.komenslc.org/ ) offer other ways to support.  Some even have ‘Scrapbooking for a Cure’ or you could organize one yourself in your area (and support any cause you like).

I hope you enjoy helping others!

Robin
