How do postbound scrapbooks work? Do I need longer posts to add more pages?

May 30th, 2007

Question: Hi Robin,

I am new at scrapbooking and I need more protectors for the scrapbook I have chosen.  I found “Memory Keepers 12×12 Postbound Page Protectors.  The book I have has 2 holes to put the pages on.  Will these work for it and do I need longer posts for this and if so what do I need.  Please help!

Answer:  Of course it depends on the scrapbook you have chosen, but most postbound scrapbooks hold or come with 20 page protectors.  The page protectors you bought should work, but before you open the package make sure that the hole placement is correct (i.e. compare your scrapbook to the page protectors and make sure the post and holes match up).  If you add any more pages to these scrapbooks, usually you need to get post extensions. Another option is to get longer screw posts (these ones are 1″) and replace the shorter ones you have (if the album allows you to remove them. if not, go for the extensions).
