Will 3-d embellishments ruin my other scrapbooking pages?

September 11th, 2007

Question: Hi, Thank you for answering my question about adhesives. I have another question. I love 3-d embellishments but I’ve been reading how they are not the best for scrapbooking since they may ruin other pages.  Do you have any suggestions or should I just avoid them completely?  Thanks

Answer:  I love using 3-D stuff too!  My opinion is that too much of anything is a bad thing, so don’t go too crazy with the embellishments.  I also try to make sure nothing is going to stick out too far on the page because that is when you can have problems with denting other pages in your scrapbook.  There are some embellishments out there that could ruin neighboring pages, but most of them are just fine.

Although there is still debate on how you should store your scrapbooks (either lying flat, spine up, or spine out), I like to store mine on a book shelf with the spine out.  This prevents pages from possibly ruining or denting other pages.  It also provides easy access to your scrapbooks.

So I would say keep on using your 3-D embellishments - they are cute and can really make a page pop!  For those concerned about using anything that sticks out, I would suggest going digital.  Not only can you create the illusion of depth, but you can reuse your “3-D” embellishments over and over again since they are saved as files on your computer.
