How to find a specific out-of-stock item?

November 20th, 2007

Question: I started a project and when I ran out of stickers I went back to the store where I purchased them not too long after I started the project, but when I went back to buy them, the clerk told me they were no longer in stock!! *GASP* I am wondering if they are “out there somewhere” across the country just sitting on a shelf or someone somewhere has leftover stickers tucked away in a drawer never to be used again. hehe. Are there any sites where
you can find out if anyone has the product short of looking on ebay or using the search engine?? I have tried a lot and come up empty. Are there any message boards you could recommend? Lastly, do you know of any sites that carry discontinued products? The product was by scenic route paper company and they were cardstock alphabet stickers called ” small random kraft Aplhabet” with a product number SRS401. I hope you can help. Thank you
Answer:  First of all, I do not know of any specific sites that list out of stock items (except eBay or craigslist.com).  Usually I would just do a general search online.  But if those have turned up nothing, I would suggest contacting the company directly to see if they have any or if they know of any of their retailers that might have some.  Scenic Route Paper Company (www.scenicroutepaper.com , (801)542-8071, or info@scenicroutepaper.com ) also has a store locator on their website, so you could locate a store in your area that might have the product.  You would be surprises at how helpful companies and stores can be.  Good luck in your search!
